Breast Feeding Debate… Continued

Dear Dr. Larsen,

You are incorrect. It is everyones business how a mother feeds her baby. I think a doctor should incourage a new mother to breast feed.

I know a lot of professional women who work full time and found the time to breast feed. "Bottle Advocate" is just making excuses as far as I’m concerned to not nurse her baby.

There is no comparison to formula and God’s perfect food. It amazes me to see pregnant women take such good care of themselves while pregnant, eating right, not smoking, drinking etc. But when the baby is born, they feed it commercial food.

My husband and I raised six children, the oldest is 43, There were a lot of babies born in our family that year, I was the only one breast feeding. They told me it was old fashioned. I in turn told them. It can’t be that old fashion if baby girls are still born with breasts.

I was very fortunate to have had a pediatrician encourage me. I Taught Le Leche for many years and am proud to have helped a lot of new mothers in the art of breastfeeding. We were just at Disney World, and cannot count the amount of women I saw nursing.

I do call myself an expert and proud of it. The baby years are so short. So mothers, please enjoy that precious time. There is a differance in breast feeding, I can tell the minute I hold a baby, they smell sweet, they rarely throw up.

The poop doesn’t smell, I could go on and on about the advantages. I nursed all six for a year with nothing but breqst milk. They are all so heathy. Thank you for allowing me this time. Breast Feeding Adovocate Dear Advocate, Thank you for taking the time to e mail me. When this topic came up, I knew I would be in trouble! You and I will probably not change our minds.

Anyone else can write, but this ends the discussion so far as I am concerned. All your arguments are fine, but telling all women, or men either for that matter, what they must do to be fulfilled just doesn’t wash in my book.
